Mission Statement

To be whole and fully alive in Christ, the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains is committed to re-creation by growth in Christian faith, through joyful adoration, intergenerational education, and local and global mission.
  • We shall share in joyful celebration our relationship with God whenever we gather.
  • We shall study the Scriptures, developing greater awareness of our role in God's world and to proclaim the Good News to the people.
  • We shall serve in celebration of our sacred relationship with the Holy Spirit who calls us into the world as servants to each other, the community, and the world.

Values Statement

We translate our statement into intentional mission by first using our Mission Statement to evaluate everything we do. When we set our ministries and programs against it, we can honestly say they help us fulfill our mission. Each program and ministry will undergo this test. New initiatives must grow out of our Vision shaped by our Statement of Mission.

The Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains is committed to:

  • Encourage individuals to deepen their faith through the knowledge and experiences of spiritual practices such as prayer, service and worship.
  • Provide significant opportunities for people of all ages to grow in their awareness and understanding of the Scriptures.
  • Nurture everyone in our church family with warm and caring fellowship and strong connections to support us in our individual life journeys.
  • Help our church family identify their personal gifts, providing opportunity and encouragement to share those gifts in individual and common ministries.
  • Offer meaningful stewardship opportunities for our time, talents and treasure in commitment to the greater community.
  • Reach Out in love to the unchurched, inactive and new church members of all ages and backgrounds, inviting and integrating them into this Body of Christ.
  • Giving thanks for the past, we strive to move forward with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
